Escolástico Sánchez

Escolástico Sánchez currently serves as the Discipline Leader of Quantum at BBVA. He is a Fundamental Mathematician with three master’s degrees and four filed patents. His expertise spans the fields of Quantum, Risk & Performance, Fraud, and Blockchain.

Escolástico embarked on his financial sector journey in 1998, initially passing rigorous exams to become an Inspector at the National Securities Exchange Commission (CNMV)—the Spanish equivalent of the FCA in the UK or the SEC in the US. During his six-year tenure there, he gained an integrated perspective of the financial industry.

His background includes experience as an equity portfolio manager in the front office of BBVA Asset Management for over five years, as well as roles as a risk budget officer (for three years) and a keen observer of the legal and compliance aspects of the industry, which are critical in today’s landscape.
